Welcome to midweek! Here are some stories that have come across our desks here at the MHL recently…

UNESCO has adopted the Universal Declaration on Archives. Additionally, UNESCO has also opened their Global Open Access Portal which “presents a current snapshot of the status of Open Access (OA) to scientific information around the world.”

Routledge Publishers has announced the two-year trial of a new author rights policy.

The JISC has appointed a new head, Martyn Harrow.

The European Science Foundation has released a report, Research Infrastructures in the Digital Humanities on the centrality of organizations like archives and libraries to humanities research. (You can download the report at the linked article above.)

OCLC is developing ArchiveGrid, a free discovery system that will replace the current subscribers-only system in June 2012.

And the Royal Society has made access to its online journal archive free!
